Challenging
Their Destiny/Dreambuilders (www.ctddreams.org) had a trip planned to take
young people to Allensworth. Children on this trip were being taken out
of the world they were so familiar with and were going to be shown that
there is so much more out there.
One requirement of the trip was for the
young people to write about their experience in an essay, poem or story
with prizes being awarded (great incentives!). But there wasn’t any
money for these prizes. CTD contacted Mercey Springs for a “gap” grant
to help make their trip more successful. Mercey Springs provided $250 to
go towards gift certificates at a local bookstore for the young winners.
